- The computer
will be available on a first come first serve basis. Anyone who uses
the computer must know how to use the existing programs installed. Due
to the fact that the library has varying levels of staff coverage and
expertise, library staff will not be able to teach anyone how to use
the computer. Do not expect detailed instruction. The library has installed
Microsoft Office which has Microsoft Word word processing. If you do
not know how to use Microsoft Office, you will not be able to use the
computer with these programs. Simple instruction in use of the Internet
will be provided. Use of the computer is limited to 1/2 hour per day
per user.
- Patrons
using the computer must sign up at the front desk and leave a valid
library card with library staff. Do not forget to pick up your library
card when you leave.
- Those
using the Internet agree not to engage in Chat Groups. E-mail is allowed
using on-line e-mail services. The library does not establish any e-mail
accounts for patrons though its Internet Service Provider.
- No installation
of software is allowed. Anyone found trying to install their own software
on the computer will lose computer privileges permanently.
- Downloading
of files from the Internet to a 3 ½ floppy disk is allowed. Likewise
any work done in Microsoft Office will have to be saved to a floppy
disk as well. No downloading or saving to the computer's hard disk is
allowed. WARNING: Software downloaded from the Internet may contain
a virus and you may need to have virus checking software on your home
computer to check for this. NEVER run any downloaded software on the
library's computer. The Sturm Memorial Library is not responsible for
damage to disks or computers from software downloaded on the Internet.
Likewise, while all attempts will be made to keep the computers in good
working order, the library cannot be held accountable for any damage
or loss of data that may occur while using the library computer.
- Each
page that you print will cost 10 cents.
- Please
report any problems to staff immediately.
- Misuse
of the computer will result in loss of computer privileges.
- No more
than two people can be at the workstation at any one time.
- If the
computer is being used, patrons may sign up to use the computer next
if they wait in the library.
